Personal injury law allows us to help individuals in our community who are hurt. As best stated by Bill Tonelli, DWKMRS attorney, “We literally have the ability to help families during their darkest hour”. Our community centered approach also allows us to be very active in happenings throughout Central Florida . You can read more about our community engagement below.
Throughout the year we find events that we can participate in that benefit our community. One such event was Donuts with Dad, a neighborhood collaborative that began in College Park. The once casual gathering turned into a community organization that promotes fatherhood in Central Florida. They do this by organizing free events for the community and supporting other local organizations. Our attorney, Dan Smith enjoys being part of the initiative annually at the College Park Trunk or Treat.
This past year, Attorney Bill Tonelli met with a group of Boone High School Law Magnet students and discussed personal injury law as part of the Law & Government Explorers Club Post #450. Mentoring future generations of lawyers, as well as all students, is incredibly important to our firm. In the past we have been invited to participate in Read-A-Thons and other school related activities. We are always open to opportunities to participate, speak and mentor in youth settings.
Recently, we were able to participate in the 2nd Annual Lip Sync Battle Fundraiser for the American Lung Association. Partner Tony Sos led his crew through a great performance and a lot of fun was had! Most importantly, this event drew in 224 attendees and raised over $39,000 for the American Lung Association in Florida: Central!!
While we participate in many events, we can all be generous at any time. All of our attorneys participate in community engagement and chartiable efforts. Sometimes this is through monetary donations (you can read more about the charities we support here), but we really love to give our time. This is why several times each year, our firm prepares dinner for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald house. We enjoy being able to serve those who are going through tough times, and possibly be the first friendly face they see that day.
In sum, we care about the people we live and work with throughout our community. We are working tirelessly to continue our firms’ reputation of being a pillar of the community both as lawyers and as contributors to the well-being of our fellow Floridians. We are always open to opportunities to mentor and participate within our community!
